Christian Mission for Development (CMD) is a South Sudanese non-profit, faith-based relief and development organization dedicated to fighting poverty and injustices to reduce human suffering. CMD was established in 2005 with a mission to enhance provision of holistic servicesthat delivers emergency aid to survivors of conflict and natural disasters, and helps affected communities rebuild their lives thereby giving hope to the poverty-stricken Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), returnees and the most vulnerable host communities in the region.

CMD is a charity that places special focus on working with women, children and youth in the poor communities because multiple studies have proved that if well equipped with appropriate knowledge, technology and resources, women and youth have the capacity to transform whole families and entire communities out of poverty.Women, children and youth are at the core of CMD's programming that is community driven and based on efforts by local communities to achieve lasting solutions to the development challenges that impact negatively on the abilities of these societies to be self-reliant.This is envisaged to improve basic education, prevent the spread of preventable diseases including HIV/AIDs/STD;prevent sexual violence/GBV against women and children and increase access to clean water and sanitation, expand economic opportunities to these vulnerable groups and protect natural resources.

CMD’s programming is multi-sectoral encompassing relief and development activitiesthat strive to transform lives and build communities one at a time.CMD works to reach hard-to-reach areas with very little or no basic services and significantly in regions brutally hard hit by cycles of conflict and civil wars.Over the past years, the organization has increased its capability with an increase in staff, partners and volunteers to match the increase in its programs and projects as it spreads widely to different parts of South Sudan.

The organization has established strong organizational policies and management standards. These include a state of the art human resource, financial and procurement management policies that are continuously reviewed with active participation and inputs of CMD staffs, beneficiaries’ communities, Experts and donors. Staffs have opportunities for furthering their careers through both in-house trainings and sponsorship abroad that equip them with the necessary expertise and skills to deliver on their mandate.

CMD management has a very transparent and mutually beneficial working relationship with community leaders, church leaders, government authorities both at the local and national levels, partners, donors and other stakeholders through past and on-going activities and application of best lessons learnt. Our staff and beneficiary communities work as a team in close coordination and collaboration with all stakeholders and partners to build synergy and increase communities’ resilience with the hope to becoming self-sufficient, and to increasing the pool of empowered capable community members who are able to transform their societies and pull thesevulnerable communities out of extreme hunger, poverty, illiteracy and diseases thereby improving their access to social amenities, increase opportunities to better their social welfare and economic livelihoods.
